New Duffel

Travel Handmade with The Sewing Summit

Check out the cool projects travel handmade has. My job keeps me moving so I am excited to try some of these ideas! I love the duffel bag so much it could replace the leather bag I made!  That means a lot because look at how cool my leather bag looks. I broke 5 needles and almost lost both my eyes to flying metal. Jeni from In color Order showed a review did a review about a duffel bag pattern. I think it could be a good project!

I used an Amy Buttler Pattern to get the idea started and then it grew to be a huge bag!

I'll let you know when I make the bag...

Seashell Christmas Ornaments

I found the shells on the beach and let them sit in bleach water for a few hours. Then I let them dry in the sun so they were really white. Then I drilled holes in the top so that I could thread the red ribbon through it! I think they will look great on the tree!

My Sewing Corner!

This is were all my projects happen! I made the table out of a door I found at the ReStore. It was not an easy task to get it home because it is a huge wooden door that is super heavy! I made the bulletin board too out of an old picture frame I found at our families farm house!
Here is the up close. You can see that it some of the scroll work is coming off but because I sanded the whole thing down after I painted it and let the black underneath show through it makes it look less damaged. I used the cork tiles from target for the back. Glue them to a piece of cardboard the size of the picture frame and it works well. But the cardboard is not very sturdy so when you put in a push pin you have to be careful. I am working on another idea for the backing but it is holding up well for three years of use.

Picture of my brother! I made it for my design class in college. It is a made from different types of paper I designed. It looks really cool in real life. I will tell you a secret. I cannot draw so I had my brother pose and took this picture then I blow it up to get the outline, but that was after many failed attempts at drawing him free hand.
The other picture is my Boyfriend Owen getting barreled! This photo made it to Surfer Magazine Website! He was so stoked on it his mom had it blown up and framed!

Thats pretty much my sewing corner!

Curtains!

These curtains are my favorite I made them when I moved into my first apartment in college! I found this fabric on the sell rack and grab a bag of brown buttons from walmart to put the tabs on with and they turned out great. I did not hem the button or sew the sides so they were really easy and it doesn't look unfinished!

I made the tabs really long so light would come in through the top, and in my apartment now they are on a piece of drift wood because curtain rods are expensive.

Zipper Bags

Zipper bags. Turned out so cute!! I found all these neat metal zippers is a fabric wear house and I got the fabric from the furniture market. They are samples that have been discontinued!
I found a new technique for putting zippers in on Noodlehead and I think I am going to give it a try and see if they come out any better. I also like the pattern she has for the clutch so I might try that too!

These are both the Olive Rose pattern by Valori Wells. The one on top is made of a combination of Amy Buttler and Kaffe Fassett materials. The one below is made from several different types of Waverly materials.

Here is the PDF file for the pattern:

Singer Touch and Sew!

Some of my quilts

This one I made for my mom! It is a Kaffe Fassett pattern

This is one made from old feed sacks and other used material found around the old farm house. It is hand stitched but I think I am going to machine quilt it!

Lunch Box!

I am looking for a pattern to post! This is one of my Favorite projects!
Lunch Sack pattern!
I made it a little bigger and did not put the pocket on the front. I also bought a shower curtain liner for the wipe-able inside and it works really well.

Craft Show

OcraFolk with Case! We had a lot of fun! I think it was in June and I hope we do it again next year!
